Affiliate and Student Members
Affiliate and student members are mutual members. AISE invites you to register in this category of membership.
- Affiliate Membership: This is a category to which all interested social entrepreneurs and persons may apply.
- Student Membership: This is a category for bona fide students, especially those learning about or researching social enterprise.
Affiliates are those persons who have an active interest in social entrepreneurship or are ‘early’ or inexperienced social entrepreneurs. Students must be bona fide and enrolled in an accredited higher education institution (TAFE and universities) or public or private school.
Membership in both of these categories is FREE and conditional on a commitment to contribute to or participate in the work of the Institute. This participation may involve:
- Registering your project on the AISE website and updating its progress.
- Providing relevant information about a social enterprise project.
- Writing an article or paper for publication on the website.
- Contributing information about social enterprise research (useful links, recent research etc)
- Useful information, ideas, or practices that support colleagues pursuing similar interests.
- Acting in the capacity of webmaster for sections of the website.
- Other.
Persons wishing to become an affiliate or student member should read ‘Members and Mutualism’ and ‘What is Mutualism?’ before deciding if they wish to join.
Depending on the category you choose, benefits for mutual members depend on the extent to which you commit, and the degree to which you want to participate and contribute your knowledge and skills within a network of workers.

Associate and Fellow Members
Associate and fellows are mutual members. AISE invites you to apply for one of these categories of membership. There are two categories for each of the areas of research, learning, and technology applications. Ordinarily persons interested in becoming a member will apply for a category in only one of the areas of expertise.
- Research or Learning or Technology Applications Associate: This category of membership is for social entrepreneurs who are more actively involved in the work of AISE engaging in collaborative work through a range of activities and partnering arrangements, such as joint applications for funding for research and training projects, delivery of services on a fee-for-service basis (earned-income) in workshops and seminars, etc.
- Research or Learning or Technology Applications Fellow: This category of membership provides the opportunity for an exclusive working association with the Institute. It is generally available to more experienced social entrepreneurs and nonprofit practitioners, researchers and teachers, and persons acknowledged in the field of social entrepreneurship with a track-record in one or more of the three broad strategic areas of the Institute’s work namely, learning, research, and information society technologies.
Membership may also be earned by becoming an advisor or consultant on the about-to-be-launched Virtual Ventures project (www.virtualventures.net.au).
Applications for these categories of Membership are subject to approval by AISE’s Board of Directors.

Associates
Associate Members in each of the three areas of research, learning and technology applications receive all the benefits of Ordinary Members (which includes Affiliate and Student Members) and in addition:
- Price discounts for Conferences and Workshops
- Listing on the research data-base
- Listing of current research projects and reports-in-progress
- Collaboration with AISE in the delivery of workshops and seminars.
Fellows
Fellow Members in each of the three areas of research, learning and technology applications receive all the benefits of Ordinary Members (which includes Affiliate and Student Members) and in addition:
- Partnering on an agreed basis with AISE in significant research and learning projects Public recognition at principal gatherings and events of the Institute
- Use of AISE logo in partner and/or collaborative research and learning projects
- AISE sponsorship of workshops and seminars focused on current AISE supported research and learning projects.
- Opportunityto play a public role at events of the Institute
- Personal e-mail account (name@aise.net.au)
- Opportunityto act on the Advisory Council of the Institute
- Name listing on Institute publications (where appropriate) and the professional organisation with which the Fellow is associated
- Recognition of the highest level of involvement in research and learning in the field of social entrepreneurship.

Investor Members (Ordinary and Builder-Investor)
Investor Members are Ordinary and Builder-Investor Members. The two categories of membership are characterised by some exchange of finance, either by fee-for-service for benefits of being an AISE member (Ordinary Member); or by sponsorship (Builder-Investor Member). AISE invites you to register in one of these categories of membership.
- Ordinary Member:This category is for members who do not wish to join AISE by committing themselves to the principles of mutualism but who never-the-less wish to engage the work of the Institute on a fee-for-service basis. The benefits associated with this category of membership are listed below.
Ordinary membership provides one individual access to all current benefits of membership. Membership in this category is A$ 125 per annum (includes GST).
- Builder-Investor Member: This category is for an individual or organisation who wishes to sponsor the work of AISE. The benefits for this category of membership are listed below. Up to five individuals from the same organisation or sponsor agency receive all the current benefits of Ordinary Membership and additional benefits relevant to the category of sponsor including public recognition and invitations to special events conducted by AISE. Membership in this category is A$ 995.00 per annum (includes GST).

- Private consultation of one hour (no charge) on designing your social enterprise

Builder-Investor Members receive ALL the benefits of Ordinary Members and in addition:
- One free advertisement per issue in the AISE Newsletter
- Publication of products and services on the AISE website
- Public recognition at principal gatherings and events of the Institute
- Opportunity to play a public role at events of the Institute
- Acknowledgement of demonstrated commitment to social responsibility
- Recognition of the highest level of involvement in the field of social entrepreneurship
